Colour Theory and Palette Inspiration

For the love of all things colour

Colour theory and its application, to me, makes or break a visual creative piece of work. Too much colour can confuse the main elements within an composition (something I have learned from Matt back in Level 4) as well as distract away from the main elements and message/aim of the pice. Too little colour can have little impact on its audience, taking away from the key elements within the composition.

It still boggles me and I am in now way an expert in the use of colour, light or tone. It is because of this that I keep various examples of interesting colour palette research across many platforms (a photo library on my Phone for when out and about, Pinterest and a colour palette visual inspiration folder on my desktop where I can drag and drop images as I go about my day to day) all to be referred back to when approaching a new brief, editing/re-vamping old work and overall gaining a better knowledge and understanding of this vital creative tool/application throughout my practice.

Helpful platforms:

• Adobe Color CC: https://color.adobe.com/create/color-wheel/
• Adobe Color  CC - iPhone app (as a part of the Adobe CC Capture platform):
