10 rules and how to achieve them
After being quite specific in the last task with my position statement and what I want to achieve, I found it even more beneficial to really think about how I can achieve these rules. Some are quite obvious, but it is helpful to look at things in this specific way and have them written down physically again, as something to revisit and have ways in which to achieve what I want to.
Be Creative Daily
I will buy a variety of sketchbooks to use daily and keep on me at all times, for experimentation, for observational sketches and exploration of new medias
Improve Digital Media Skills
I will seek online courses/tutorials/drop in workshops to help with learning digital software I am not confident in such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
Use University Resources
I will use drop ins for the many resources at university, such as the print room, for personal projects and exploration at least once a week
Organisation and Balance
I will plan my week in advance using diaries, calendars, notes and lists, starting/completing university work as soon as it has been given so as to free up more of my personal time for other things. Balance is key
Catalogue Relevant Practitioners
I will use Pinterest daily, create folders in my bookmarks and keep a clear blog/sketchbook for practitioners work that inspires / interest me
Be Healthy
I will keep to doctors appointments, sleep, eat and exercise often. Aquire a new mattress (somehow) for better sleep!
Indulge in Other Interests
Make time for the good stuff! Once or twice a week, use free time effectively to explore interests such as photography, print, music, growing/caring for plants and personal practice
Experience
I will send emails to practitioners that inspire me such as Mr Penfold, Carson Ellis and Claire Scully in the hope of advice, process explanation and possible work experience/tutorials
Experiment
I will try out new media inspired by other practitioners, take a risk and apply it to new personal projects and briefs. Just give it a go
Be Mindful and Present
I will make time for myself, in the hope of eliminating stress. Join a gym, run in the evenings, do yoga, meditate, read that book I have been meaning to start for a year!
